Subject: DPB's own comments about the negotiations were insulting. Instead of simply saying, "It's been a great ten years, but the money is too much," he bragged that he just didn't get back in touch with the agent, and eventually "got the picture." There were similar remarks, and spin, all from DPB. How un-classy. However, that's water over the dam now, and I think we've beaten this topic to death.
In reply to: afan 's message, "DB didn't do anything to david. The contract negotiations before this one were hell on wheels from reports and what davids demands were. It was also stated by david that whether he returned or not would be what the money people had to say (directly from dje's mouth) He wanted $1 mill per eps and that was impossible especially for how expensive it was to make the show itself. DB said david knew way back at the beginning of season 10 that he wouldn't be signed and he played it up. (inside)" on 15:26:39 08/26/06 Sat

[> [> [> [> [> Yet it still comes back to fans blaming it all on DB. DJE made some rather snide remarks about the producers after he got a big pay increase and they got rid of his wife's role. Who was unclassy then? -- Jaggie, 16:25:46 08/26/06 Sat

[> [> [> [> [> [> I agree with Deemus on the fact that DB has done some unclassy things & made some unclassy statements.....I think here you had to alpha males (or battering rams) & neither one was going to give an inch....It would've been so easy to publically say "its a matter of money.." by both DB & DJE...DJE did want Friends type money, which unfortunately a small market show like JAG just couldn't afford. KT, CC & RV had already had their roles diminshed/eliminated & JAG using all the props they did was a very expensive show to put on the air. We as fans again may not like, but it is a business. -- Jennifer, 17:44:41 08/26/06 Sat

I think both parties at one point or the other during the contract talks acted "less than stellar" & both should be held to the same standard. It just wasn't one person's fault or the other's...it was a bunch of things which I'm thankful we don't know 95% of what actually happened.

DB as the creator is going to take the brunt of the fans' wrath & rage if that makes sense....I'm sure there is so much more too it, and probably somethings that shouldn't and won't ever be public, and should stay just that way, private....

Hollywood is a nasty, nasty business.....

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> I would think that JAG could have scrapped up enough money to keep its secondary actors employeed if they were inclined to do so. I for one wasn't tuning in to see KT, CC or RV. I was watching to see the stars DJE and CB. -- Nokia, 00:26:03 09/03/06 Sun

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> No they couldn't Nokia. They had a budget to work with just like any business does. Jag wasn't garnering the 18-49 bracket and wasn't getting the advertising dollars to stay afloat. DJE wanted "Friends" type money from a show that wasn't earning "Friends" type dollars. In trying to meet his demands a few years ago under the awful and strenuous contract negotiations they gave him $300,000.00 per episode and had to cut the budget and therefore cut out and cut back the others roles. And whether you want to acknowledge it or not, all the other cast members contributed to the show as well. -- Kathy, 09:40:19 09/05/06 Tue
