Hey, I got the SANYO brand for my b0day, and trust me, it IS WELL WORTH IT. It is sooo nice. I'd been wanting one for about 7 months, and yes, it was almost $300, but go with namebrand. I think its more trustworthy. I have enjoyed mine so much, and I plan to put all my videotapes to DVD...my dvd recorder can transfer VHS tapes to dvd, and dvd to VHS easily. -- MM, 07:57:36 04/28/05 Thu

thats what I figured - I tend to be a little leery of any of the really cheap brands when it comes to electronics... Many of the name brands are actually made by the cheaper manufacturers, and when it came to VCR's many consumer electronics advisors suggested buy the cheapest VCR. I am using the same theory. Now I have been seeing Sanyo's, Phillips, etc for $179-$185. The added VCR seems to add alot to the pricepoint.
