Subject: I did go and listen to this (thanks, LW, for the directions to the clip), and I didn't interpret it as being a slap at JAG. It sounded as if he was referring to the long, hard schedule and the amount of time it took him away from his family. (inside)

His comment was something like, "If I died right now, I would have wasted a quarter of my life of JAG." In other words, it was that long that he missed out on a lot of family time. I agree, it could have been phrased in a less negative way, but I prefer to hear it as a time complaint, not a series/cast/story line complaint.

[> I saw the original interview and I think it was tongue-in-cheek (inside) -- Meg, 23:16:22 02/24/07 Sat

Part of it might have been feeling bad for the time he spent from his family. However the whole tone of that interview was very much teasing. DJE was grinning a lot and joking around. It could have just been a comment made in jest to a question like, "Think you've spent enough time as a lawyer?" or something else directed in his longevity. Since they couldn't even show us the clip in context, only in three previews and then cut it from the actual interview, I doubt it's anything to take very seriously.
