hmmm... fave episode... really difficult to narrow it down to one.

For J/7 content alone it would be Prey (great tension) Hope and Fear (great tension and nice scene in the brig - see below), Imperfection (sigh), Child's Play (great angst, tension and concern), Voyager Conspiracy (for the scene in the shuttle - why did they beam out though?), Omega Directive (nice chats especially in front of the fire) and Dark Frontier.

Also Latent Image (great visuals and Janeway listens to 7), Drone (but mainly because i like One)... nope, list is getting too long.

I've been reading a book, Star Trek Action, which is about the creating and shooting of scenes from Voyager, DS9 and ST:Insurrection.

For Voyager they had Hope and Fear. They had the idea of the quantum slipstream and they wanted the episode to be around j/7. Some first ideas were that during slipstream travel Seven suffers implant failure and the Doc says if they go on she'll die. Janeway decides to get out of the slipstream, Seven argues against it and wants them to carry on regardless - it was considered too close to 'One'. an alternative was that an alien ship attacks Voyager in the slipstream because it's their space, Voyager wins the battle. However, Voyager is no longer able to stay in the slipstream "so Seven of Nine suggests that we take the gleaming new alien ship and proceed. The conflict between Janeway and Seven ignites ... Eventually 7 of 9 does take command of the alien vessel. But something goes awry in Act 5. Capt. Janeway and "Captain" Seven find themselves face-to-face in a dangerous situation. Ultimately, Janeway is proven right. she beats Seven at their "game" once again."

anyway, the story goes through quite a few changes but this is a paragraph i rather like:

"February 3 1998
In the wee hours of the morning in the company of his own thoughts, Braga (Brannon Braga), is able to focus on what he wants. An epsiode that serves as a payoff to the themes of the entire fourth season. "I wanted to do a story about Janeway and Seven that would somehow recap their relationship over the past year and take it a step further," he says. "A storyline that showed there were consequences to Janeway's making a deal with the Borg, and to bringing in Seven of Nine. I wanted it to be a bitter-suite retrospective of Season four and yet a good action story."

Braga works out the structure and calls Joe Menosky, his collaborator on the episode. "we did the beats over the phone. Our breakthrough was when we decided that Janeway and Seven shouldn't be on different ships fighting each other. That's artificial. We were straining to do something that never would be believable. They should be working together. After that, we just came up with ideas right and left."

Thw two men quickly come to a decision about which ideas from the beat session (story ideas mtg) will remain. Vengeance remains the alien's motive. The ruse concept is fleshed out, and a scene is constructed where the alien springs a trap. Janeway and Seven get thrown into the brig together. "They would have to get close," says Braga. "Janeway would have to tweak Seven's implants - to touch her." He smiles. "We liked that image."

I forgot to add Think Tank.. with the chit chats between janeway and seven over whether she should leave and janeway showing seven off to the think tank.

Oh, definitely Think Tank, if only for the bit that looks like a J/7 kiss in the lift! No really, my personal favorite ep is Dark Frontier. I just love it when 7 says please.
