Subject: Quick Question for Brits/Londoners

Seasons. When does it start getting warm in London in spring? When do you start to plant? How bad's the winter? I just read a timeline for Bad Girls and realized Nikki was released in November, not March as I first was going with. That actually works better for events in my fourth story but also means I have to go back and 'tweak' the first few stories a bit. How cool is it in November? (Could Nikki and Helen have gotten away with those outfits in November outside Chix in the last episode?)

In November it's pretty cold, it can rain and can be windy -not nice at all most days! As Winter gets nearer the weather gets worse (all the above), there can be sleet and sometimes it hails also occasionally it can snow. It's also very cold and can be icy. I'd say that it starts getting warmer at Spring time in March. I didn't see last episodes so I'm sorry I can't answer the clothes question but I'm sure someone else can.

In the final episode of the third series, when they snog outside Chix, there's no way they would be wearing those clothes and not be cold! It's cold and it rains in November. Scarves and gloves are usually out. It's all grey and horrible. When the sun does come out, it is usually quite a cold day. Having said that, it has been unusually mild recently - I went to work this morning without a jacket.

Yeah, it's been quite warm here as well this year. I guess England is pretty much like Nova Scotia and maybe Nikki's release was in a mild fall/winter. I have played tennis through to the end of November a few years so it is possible. Of course, some people would rather be fashionable than warm. And Nikki probably didn't have a lot of options for what she wore to her appeal in terms of outer wear. At least she had a long coat on. Helen just had on that puny leather jacket which I doubt was lined.

The UK is generally much warmer and milder than Nova Scotia throughout the year. Winters are considerably warmer than in Nova Scotia. It's likely to be several degrees above freezing in the South East and the London region throughout the winter, usually. The depressing bit is the wet - a mixture of gloomy days and drizzle can persist for weeks. When it the temperature does drop to freezing, or close to it, we can get beautiful blue skies, with the trees stark and black. Snow is very unusual in the South East these days; it's unusual to have more than two or three days in a winter when there is a dusting, or more, of snow. In many winters there is none at all.

The north of the UK is different, although even here snow is less common than it used to be, except on the higher hills.
