Yeah, it's been quite warm here as well this year. I guess England is pretty much like Nova Scotia and maybe Nikki's release was in a mild fall/winter. I have played tennis through to the end of November a few years so it is possible. Of course, some people would rather be fashionable than warm. And Nikki probably didn't have a lot of options for what she wore to her appeal in terms of outer wear. At least she had a long coat on. Helen just had on that puny leather jacket which I doubt was lined.

The UK is generally much warmer and milder than Nova Scotia throughout the year. Winters are considerably warmer than in Nova Scotia. It's likely to be several degrees above freezing in the South East and the London region throughout the winter, usually. The depressing bit is the wet - a mixture of gloomy days and drizzle can persist for weeks. When it the temperature does drop to freezing, or close to it, we can get beautiful blue skies, with the trees stark and black. Snow is very unusual in the South East these days; it's unusual to have more than two or three days in a winter when there is a dusting, or more, of snow. In many winters there is none at all.

The north of the UK is different, although even here snow is less common than it used to be, except on the higher hills.
