Did I meet you in New York for that comic convention? I will admit it's been a long time. But even then, I had a couple of lesbian characters in my stories. That was '82. And yeah, I did co-found STAPA. It's funny, I remember thinking that when computers came along, that it would be so easy now to make great zines, but of course, the internet sort of took away the need for apas because communication is so immediate now. Though there was nothing like getting a large book every two months full of stories and art and comments.

And yes, people, if the Trek didn't clue you in, I was a geek. I probably still am except I don't collect comics anymore.

Nope, we've never met. I was in S-TAPA from 1990-93. You may remember me as "Wolf". I did "Supreme Six", "The Dragon", and some other less than memorable efforts. I left the group when I was in college so I could focus more on my craft so I could eventually turn pro. Which I have since gotten into the indie scene, but never enough to make a 'living' at it.

Yes, the internet gives you that 'instant gratification' aspect of it, but the problem is, too many people who have no interest other than antagonize butt in with their 'opinions' about anything and everything. The APAs at least had people focused on what was being presented and you didn't get treated disrespectfully as a rule.

Sorry to hear you're out of comics entirely. There still is a lot of worthwhile material out there, it's just become very difficult to acquire amidst the issues that the comics industry has. Unless you're being produced into a movie or tv series, or you're corporate owned, you might as well be a closeted homosexual surrounded by bigots, because that's how the internet comics fandom treats indie creators these days. *sad*

Anyway, if you or your fans are interested, my current site is <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://home.earthlink.net/~britrvn">http://home.earthlink.net/~britrvn</a>

It's got some art samples and interviews I did with various authors and artists in comics and SF / F (might I recommend the interview with James Alan Gardner?). The site is in dire need of a revamp, but five years of failed relationships, caring for both of my disabled parents singlehandedly (yes, I noticed on your news post you wondered how a single child could handle that sort of burden - one manages, probably much to the detriment of one's own emotional and mental health), and fighting a two year court battle to get our home back from a real estate shark... well, let's just say I've been way too depressed and busy to handle the online stuff much.

Wow. Deja vu. I feel like I dreamed writing that last paragraph about... two months ago? Okay, where's the temporal anamoly this time, and who goes back to fix it? *wink*

Later, G.
