Duquesne, although not shining on the court until lately, and its athletic officials have worked diligently to bring the Tournament back to Pittsburgh. The event helps its program and the school as well as the city. Robert Morris’ recent championships have added to the basketball interest in town

But it has been Pitt’s success over the past decade that makes Pittsburgh a viable NCAA destination. The Panthers have helped make Pittsburgh at least a modicum of a college basketball town (witness sellout upon sellout at the Petersen Events Center, even after the newness wore off) when it was believed only professional sports could hold public interest.

Certainly, people came out for the 1997 and 2002 first and second rounds. It’s an event and a must-see. Thanks to Pitt and a new arena, basketball fans will be able to see it many times in the future.

- I read many newspapers, the Beaver County Times\Allegheny times circulation is in Duquesne's back yard. Has a daily circulation of 40,000 plus it is online and owned by Calkins Media, which owns 8 newspapers and television stations. So this tiny article can be picked up by a lot of media. Plus more importantly it gives the view of the general public, that this is good for Pitt and Pittsburgh and who cares who's hosting it. (NT) -- DuHope, Tuesday, September 22, 03:04:24pm

    - The major tenant is the Penguins, this is a publicly paid for facility, I am sure whether we hosted a tournament or not they would allow us to play some games there, I am sure they would even allow us to play all their games there. A83 is right, you got to fix your own ship before you start fixing others. I went to the last tournaments , I had a great time. Did nothing for DU, in fact losing in the NIT last year did more for us than hosting 2 tournaments combined. (NT) -- DuHope, Tuesday, September 22, 04:03:11pm
