I still think there's more to their (original) styling than the top-heavy rails and black plastic faring... though I'm still getting used to it. I'm also working on the "pics" (new ground for me), but I'm afraid some minds (like my wife's) are already made up...

400 vs. 125 pounds, that's a lot of difference! If you're curious, remove one; take your index finger and push down between the 'rivnuts' and watch it flex - don't press too hard! A quick press at the rear end didn't look any 'stronger.' I'll poke around some more, you've got me curious. *It just 'got home' and I poked around some more: the center 3 nut pattern is only sheet metal, the front two feel a bit stronger, but that may be due to the drain ditch's rigidity and nearness to the corner bends and roof attachments; the same with the rear, though a bit 'softer' than the front. I'm not trying to put the thing down, just describing what I found... ...any consideration to the rusting rivnut interiors?

OK - you saved me a pic post? That's pretty much an original X, if white. I've got the 'jeep rounds' and higher hood... I like it. I've always liked it! It would be nice to make those nut-wholes disappear... I don't see them on the white one.

And I'm not gonna be able to do a mileage comparison... cause I'd never checked it before -- just keep thinking of the high-end EPA estimate of 24 per gal. (with my 4 cyl). But I suspect there's something to the wind-drag effect, and given the X's extremely high and large bars, plus the plastic fairing there's likely more drag than most... But I guess this kind of tinkering is bound to happen when you let a tail-end Boomer buy a vehicle aimed at the NeXt Generation ~ sorry boys ~
