 hi. if the lambda sensor is fitted before the catalytic converter ( which i'm sure it will be) you will be able to remove cat but you will have to re-weld lambda sensor into new header for the fuel injection to work correctly.this is what people do with the more modern water cooled v dubs your bug will run fine but will fail mot on emissions unless you refit cat for mot test.
