Author: Ponty Williams - Webmaster
Subject: Scrum V Team of the week

Team of the Week: 28-04-02

15: Glenn Metcalfe (Glasgow)
The Steelmen couldn't handle the pace of the Scotland international as he helped Glasgow to a rare success on Welsh soil

14: Gareth Wyatt (Pontypridd)
Lethal when put into open space. Part of a Pontypridd back line that showed how to seize the day on semi-final occasions

13: Sonny Parker (Pontypridd)
Releases the ball out of the tackle as well as any centre in Britain

12: Jon Bryant (Pontypridd)
After establishing his hardman centre credentials in Wales, Bryant sets out to conquer the world! Added London Irish's Springbok international Brendan Venter to his growing collection of scalps

11: Mark Jones (Llanelli)
The winger looked sharp for Llanelli, although he was denied any sort of attacking ball. So eager in defence that he nullified Leicester overlaps and helped protect the Scarlets' tender lead until close to the end

10: Lee Jarvis (Neath)
Jarvis' rich vein of form has been instrumental in propelling Neath to the top of the Welsh-Scottish League table

9: Ryan Powell (Cardiff)
Showed the cockiness to step into Rob Howley's boots, direct his back line and boss the game

8: Scott Quinnell (Llanelli)
Llanelli's limited game plan can be criticised, but their forwards took the game to the most feared pack in Britain and came out on top. Quinnell played close to the edge, but he was the Scarlets' inspiration and example.

7: Donnie McFadyen (Glasgow)
Relishing his return to action after a long injury absence. McFadyen's support work and dynamism should see him pushing for international recognition

6: Hywel Jenkins (Swansea)
Jenkins has found his game late in the season and could have the All Whites regretting the decision to allow him to depart to Neath

5: Brent Cockbain (Pontypridd)
Ponty's adopted Aussie was at the heart of their forward effort once again. Totally outplayed London Irish's much-heralded lock and captain, Ryan Strudwick

4: Robert Sidoli (Pontypridd)
Llanelli's locks Wyatt and Cooper deserve credit, but the Ponty pair had to claim the team of the week spots. Sidoli ruled the line-outs and restarts all evening

3: Gary Powell (Cardiff)
The Cardiff youngster has developed his strength and is really looking the part, giving Canadian international Rod Snow a torrid evening at Rodney Parade

2: Mefin Davies (Pontypridd)
Gets through so much of the dirty work for the valleys side. Davies is the sort of dog every team needs, but he also claimed his share of the glory with another poacher's try

1: Gethin Jenkins (Pontypridd)
Jenkins was run close by Duncan Jones, but another all-action display secures the spot for the rising star of the Welsh front-row game
