Subject: Hey, everyone!

Well, let it never be said that life in NYC isn't interesting. For those of you who are interested, no, I haven't even gone out on a single audition, and I got here a month and a half ago. For the past three weeks, I've been doing my nut trying to find a cheap place, and now I can put a price on my angst: $3150 for first, last, security and broker's fee on a studio in Astoria. There are other ways to go about finding an apartment, but between the scams and the false hopes and the frustration, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

Worst of all, I'm not auditioning, 'cause I can't even think of going out there with a big smile on my face and doing my little patter when I don't know where I'm going to be sleeping soon.

I shouldn't bitch. Apologies all around.

In other news, I will be appearing at Don't Tell Mama's on Tues, Nov 30 (at 9pm) and Sun, Dec 5th (at 1pm), so anyone who wants to see if I can sing (I think I can) is encouraged to attend.

One thing is clear, through all this mess: I'm here and I want to stay here. I want to be in this city and on the stage. I've had my life "on hold" for long enough - time to move forward.

There's a wonderful line in a Sondheim song: Someday just began. That's how I feel. All the things I've been saying, "Someday, I'm gonna...." I'm going to do, now. Someday I'm gonna put on my slinky silver dress and sing Gershwin in a smoky dive. Someday I'm gonna pound the pavement and get myself in front of casting people and dazzle them all with a grin and a well-placed shrug. Someday I'm gonna stand on a stage and pour my heart all the way to the last row of the top balcony. Someday just began.

My love to you all. Think of me safely nestled somewhere clean and warm, ok?
