I was started on neurontin over 2 years ago to try to control the severe chronic pain I experience due to neural tube birth defects, previous spinal injuries, tethered spinal cord syndrome, and diastematomylia. I was started on doses of 300 mg twice a day along with Paxil and Oxycontin for pain control as well. Over the years my dosage has been increased to 600 mg 4x daily. I have suffered no side effects from the medication at all, and have found that is has been a help for the radiating neuropathic pain in both my legs and arms. As time progresses we find it necessary to increase not only the Neurontin but the Oxycontin as well to keep the pain to controllable levels. As I have already stated I have had no adverse reactions or side effects to the neurontin and have found it to be valuable in keeping the pain at tolerable levels. Only when I have neglected my limits and overexerted myself or the weather is cold and damp does the pain reach uncontrollable levels and then I must make a trip to the doctor for narcotic injections to "calm" it back down to tolerable levels again.
