Dear Jamie,
I help run The UK Adhesions Society, which is overseen by a board of adhesion specialists. Pleas get in touch with me and I can find you the help and information you need no matter where you are in the world, I can put you in touch with help in your area.
Everything you have been told by your GP (PCP) is a lot of rubbish s/he oviously knows nothing about adhesive disease or ARD (adhesions related disorders) and you need to do some research before you go and so something drastic like having surgery. Also over the counter medications will not help adhesion pain.
A hysterectomy may help short term but from all the studies we have done, the adhesions return along with the pain and we are left with a lot of emotional baggage that we could well do without.
Adhesions do not show up on x-rays or scans the only way to detect them is by laparoscopy but you do not wish to go down that route without seeing an adhesion specialist. Please get in touch or visit our website and I will do my best to put you in contact with the right people and information.
