I certainly feel for your husband. The number of doctors here in Alberta actually comfortable with prescribing opiates is (I believe at last count) down to three, while the number of pain patients seems to keep going up. Have you tried contacting your provincial College of Physicians? If it is anything like Alberta, pain specialists are also General Practitioners. I know this isn't much help, but I'll keep you in my thoughts, anyhow.
