Well, what and how would you call a woman who is formally crowned (wears an official crown), bestowed an official scepter, and conferred an official title in a formal process (of election) through a national or international contest / competition which is also a stage presentation, a pageant, and a TV program / show in one? She is not just an ordinary, mere beauty but she is A BEAUTY QUEEN! A DIFFERENT KIND OF QUEEN! She is not a political queen like a nation-kingdom queen (monarch / royalty). She is not political. But A BEAUTY QUEEN is A SOCIAL QUEEN who functions as a national or international ambassador of goodwill and amity (as well as tourism), a national / international role model, environmental advocate, philanthropist, a humanitarian, etc. But in the global scene or in GLOBAL SOCIAL STANDING, compared to a monarch or royalty (kingdom queen or king) and their counterparts (first lady, president or prime minister), the elected queens in the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International major, prestigious, global competitions are REAL GLOBAL QUEENS (real global persons). Kingdom queens and heads of states are not. The country U.S.A. may be powerful because of its strong, large economy and military might, and can meddle and intervene in international conflicts, but its leader is designated as "U.S.A. President" or "President of the United States" country ONLY and not as "President of the World" or "World President" for there is none. The election and coronation of a monarch / kingdom queen is only an internal affairs or event of a nation-kingdom (even if it is well-hyped through print and broadcast media internationally), while the election and coronation of a world beauty queen (Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International) is GLOBAL, involving so many nations of all continents of the entire planet, and watched / witnessed on TV live at the same time by more than 2 BILLION people worldwide!! A world beauty queen is a global queen while a nation-kingdom queen (monarch or royalty) is NOT. Though a world beauty queen reigns for only a year, the extent or scope of her reign and queenship covers the entire / whole world, global and worldwide (indeed, she is a global queen); while the (political) reign of a kingdom queen or monarch / royalty is LIMITED to her nation-kingdom or countries-colonies only. |

With the decline of participants, the 2007 Ms. Universe pageant will bring a lot of changes (and surprises) in this year's edition. The Donald is loosing money because the event is loosing its credibility that's why he needs to re-strategize. The pre-Trump years are coming back... just like the preliminary scores and the charity works... i heard the little sisters are also making a comeback this year (or probably the next). Ms. USA already started it by choosing a substantial woman. My Top Five  USA As expected... the girl with the complete package. Can't wait how Mexicans will react with her victory. Philippines I'm telling you, this girl will surprise all of us. With her answer to the final question, she might even run-away with the crown! Whether you (we) like it or not, she will be there! Date Posted: 23:09:47 05/20/07 Sun  Miss U.S.A. was booed by Mexicans during the National Costume competition! 5/20 - National Costumes: Thousands of people gathered at the Angel de la Independencia to witness the National Costume competition, which was held outdoors and was open to the general public. The event happend at the same time when a bike rally was under course at the same place (to promote the use of bikes instead of automobiles). The 77 contestants paraded in alphabetical order for around 45 minutes. The parade ended earlier due to the rain. Some contestants wore enormous costumes, while others wore the traditional attire of their countries. The most applauded contestant was Mexico (Rosa Maria Ojeda), followed by Spain (Natalia Zabala). Miss USA (Rachel Smith) who wore a very creative female Elvis Presley costume, was booed by the audience, due to the unstable political relations between Mexico and the United States. Such situation reminded the incident which happened during the Miss Universe 1993 contest when Miss USA (Kenya Moore) was booed during the whole telecast until she was voted off by the judges. Among the audience there was a man dressed as Spiderman, and some women showed up with sashes proclaiming themselves Miss Juarez, Miss Atenco and Miss Michoacan, in reference to places in Mexico where women have been raped or killed. The winner of today's competition will be announced during the final telecast on May 28th. |

My Top Ten   Egypt The only thing that kept me from putting her in the Top5 is her figure. She has the most beautiful face in the pageant, very strong interview skills and a great sense of fashion. If this game is played fairly, she should place this high. Philippines I love this girl! she, unlike previous representatives, is very elegant, has the brains and the body. She does not have the most striking face, but she can be a surprise like Miss Philippines 1999. Bolivia She reminds me alot with Yanina Gonzales, she also has a great body. Colombia I don't know I would love to include her in my Top5, but sometimes her face is not as beautiful as I thought it actually is! but she really knows how to pose for the camera and she is there to win! Spain well, she fooled us! I was convinced that she is not that beautiful, probably because in the crowning pics she was wearing that awful long crown that made her face look longer. Bus she is now one of the TOP contenders for the crown! My Top Fifteen    Kazakhstan She looks so regal and I keep wondering why isn't she that popular among fans. For me she is the best Asian-looking! with that red gown she can break into the Top15. Lebanon Nadine is not the best representative from her country, but MU is not that strong this year anyways. She has the height and the personality, I wish she wears a nice gown for the preliminary competition. Finland She looks so good with her red hair, she reminds me with wonder woman in a way, still she needs to work on her sense of style, bad gown. Angola she has the most beautiful strinking facial features I have ever seen. the only thing that keeps her from winning it all is the figure. Puerto Rico well, she is tall, and the regioning Miss Universe is from PR too, she has a very good sense of fashion too. BUT THATS IT! Her face is not attractive at all! This year some interesting changes , call it Historical if you may are shaping up for the fifty six year old international pageant. For one, 2006 Miss Universe Puerto Rico's Zuleyka Rivera only reigned for 10 months - the shortest reign ever for a Miss Universe. Also while there were 86 delegates who competed at last year's Miss Universe in Los Angeles, only 77 are vying for the crown this year. Pageant fans have noted that the delegate attendace at Miss Universe have droppped in the last few years. Trinidad and Tobago, regarded as one of the pageant supoerpower having produced two Miss Universe queens, is not competing this year - the first time in 16 years for this tiny Carribean nation. Citing a lack of financial support from corporate and government sponsors, the national director decided to cancel this year's Miss Trinidad and Tobago tilt. Other countries noticeably absent this year include : the Cayman Islands, Chile, Ethiopia, Ghana, Great Britain,Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Namibia, Netherlands, northern Marianas, Sri Lanka, St. Martin, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sweden and Turkey among others. On the other hand two new countries are competing this year. A representative from the African nation of Tanzania is molding up to be an early favorite. Then the former Yugoslavian state of Montenegro - fresh from Serbia independence in 2006 is also represented for the first time in the pageant this year. Who's back? Countries like Italy, Honduras, Barbados , Belize and Curacao are back this year after an absence of a few years. Other changes this year is an interesting shift on the personality interviews from the last part of the preliminary judging to that becoming the first part of the top 15 selection process. This year, personality interviews have been moved up days before the 767 delegates strut their stuff in evening gown and swimsuit. Additional observations: Other countries are starting to regard the Miss Universe pageant as second rate to its British rival Miss World. Countries like India and Israel now send their national winners to Miss World and their first runner ups to Miss Universe. While the Phlippines' BPCI Organization, franchise holders for Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International still say that each of the three national titles are of equal recognition and prestige, most Philippine pageant fans observe that in the last few years, the last winner to be announced has been the Philippine rep to Miss World leading many to beleive that BPCI also now regards Miss world as more prestigious than Miss Universe. ************************************************************ |
