 I think that because many Bosnians are Muslim (40% as of 16/12/04 cia.gov), Harrelson's character could have just assumed that Risto was Muslim as well. Technically, the other religions, when put together, make up a larger percentage, but Muslim is the one with the greatest percentage of followers compared separately to other religions. But back during the war, those percentages were a lot different, and I think that more Bosnians were Muslim then, but until the Dayton agreement was signed, Milosevic was still trying to do the ethnic-cleansing stuff, i think. Basically, Risto might very well have been Catholic or Jewish- we just don't know, and we have to make assumptions.
