Subject: When I saw Loaghaire crying in the GN, I thought that was it, she was innocent (of this point, at least). But then I realized that she had stolen Claire's shoes and now I'm not so sure those weren't guilty tears.

[> We know Geillie wasn't naked because Claire, Roger and Brianna saw her go. Kenneth wasn't there at the time or hidden if he was, so he went after Geillie, maybe next day? As for nekkid, I think he was just being dramatic - caught up in the idea of being a "sky-clad" druid. I read some of the Wiccan texts and some covens do worship nekkid. I think Geillie is probably a more talented "traveler" and was able to steer. Claire had no idea so maybe the default is 202 years and since that's what she believed and was aiming for as she went back to the present and then back to Jamie she was able to do the same time span with each passage. Same for Bri and Roger - their thoughts were focused on the year they wanted to arrive. Leghair was probably scared she'd be found out as the one who sent Claire to Cranesmuir and get a beating. I don't think she regretted it at all but she'd be very very sorry if caught. -- kgp, 12:25:02 09/28/10 Tue

[> [> Kenneth in his birthday suit - he doesn't strike me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, I can see him being the sort who thinks being naked and killing a deer, evidently with his bare hands, is a cool thing to do. -- jayn, 13:33:16 09/28/10 Tue

[> [> [> I didn't really get why he was naked either. It would seem that it would be easier for a man to find 18th century style clothes in the 20th century, all he would need to do is get a kilt. -- Lady Oliver, 14:38:20 09/28/10 Tue

[> [> I have it my head differently about "steering" in TT. By "steering" it means that a person has something/someone to focus on. Geillis was focused on helping the Rising which started much earlier than when BPC actually took steps to reclaim his throne-the seeds were already simmering in the Scots, they were working with James well before BPC was old enough to mount his expedition. So it makes sense to me that Geillis arrived so much earlier. Then Kenneth, like Jayn says, not the sharpest knife in the drawer, is only focused on arriving "before the Rising," so only arrives just before the actual war so appears 10 years later than Geillis. Claire wasn't focused on anything, but Jamie is her light, he "grabbed" her out of the stones in his own time & place, that's why she ended up in 1743. And remember Bree was so angry with Roger for following her b/c if she wanted to go back, she would have no one to focus on on the other side. That's how I figure the "steering" thing in TT works. -- Missa, 14:27:39 09/28/10 Tue

[> [> [> Missa.I have it in my head that the "ghost" who Frank saw staring up at Claire was Jamie and he was waiting for Claire and that is part of why she went through when she did but also Claire was thinking if BJR . sometimes these books just make you think so much you end up verra confused...brilliant writing to get so much discussion going !!!! -- Aussiewench, 17:18:27 09/28/10 Tue
