Subject: Suitable punishment?

My neighbour has lost (yes your heard right, lost) my copy of Exile.

What would be appropirate punishment?

Of course he has sworn he will replace it next time he's near a book store, but it won't be my original, drool infused copy, and I wonder if it will be a 1st printing?

[> How in the world does one LOSE a book? Did he leave it on a bus? At the airport? Drop it down an outhouse? What in the world? Please be sure this person knows exactly how important this book is to you and request that he find a bookstore that still has a first edition. It's the least he can do. So sorry for your loss . . . I feel your pain. (Didn't some famous person use that line? LOL) -- CathyS, 06:56:05 10/25/10 Mon

[> [> I lost someone's book (The Power of One) one time and I haven't forgiven myself. I was reading it during DD's dance class and went to the bathroom and set it on top of the paper towel holder. I walked out, sat down for a little while and then soon realized I was missing the book. Went right back in and it was gone!! I asked the front desk if someone turned it in. No one saw it, I never saw anyone with it. It disappeared! I was so bummed someone would take it like that and this was a christian dance studio - you'd think folks there would be more honest! -- Stephanie M, 08:35:38 10/25/10 Mon

[> [> [> [> It was a great movie, too. With Morgan Freeman. May be hard to find as it wasn't a big production. I made my kids watch it when they were younger. It's one of those "things you need to know about the world." -- Cyndi, 14:30:18 10/26/10 Tue

[> Jayn, just saw this post - Horrors! They BETTER replace it fast - and maybe get it signed as well. Give them the Poisoned Pen address and tell them to have it shipped. I would be so distraught if I ever lost a book someone had loaned to me. -- Ruthgold18, 10:05:59 11/01/10 Mon
