You cannot answer the questions without really understanding the big thing first. I learn the whole card first(to check I have understood the concept) and then dive into the details. Since understanding and learning are two distinct things and you are 100% right you have to put one single detail on a card for the learning and you have to put "wrong" cards back into the first box for review , I have resorted to this:

I simply wrote a litte c++ console program that takes a textfile with exported cards from vtrain and splits them into atomar fact cards. Then I reimport them into vtrain into a different cardbox. Now I can fully profit from vtrains features.

I think this is a superb idea. At first general questions which enrich the interconnections between the central ideas of the topic should first be asked, and only then followed by specific details.
