Yes, the pictures are uncompressed, just as they are when you embed them in Microsoft Word. This is due to the way Microsoft's OLE technology works, and we can do nothing to it if we use the standard implementation of OLE.

Anyway, we are working on a proprietary function for the embedding of image files. This new procedure will allow you to store the pictures as separate files, so they can be compressed.

If you would like this feature to be available soon, please register.

Regarding the auto-save feature, you can use the shortcut Ctrl+S as a workaround. As far as I am concerned, this shortcut has become sort of a tic.
