Hi Christine,
content of the inquest report.

I n q u e s t - ' A" inquest was held* on Monday
afternoon, at the Police Station, before Mr. K. H.
Davies, deputy coroner, to enquire into the cause
the death (of Joseph Short, aged 71 years,.5,
Roberts' Row, Cwmtillery. Mr. Price was appointed
foreman.—Dr. Muir, in giving evidence,
said that death resulted from bleeding of the lungs.
'The deceased met with a severe accident at South
Wales Colliery some four years ago, when his chest
was severely injured, and be had attended him
personally for over three years. The diseases
which deceased suffered from were, he thought,
attributable to the accident. —The Coroner pointed
out the state of the law where if death was delayed
beyond a period of a year and a day, no one could
be held responsible, however gross the negligence
might have been at the time. He did not, however
, attribute negligence to anyone in this case. --
The jury found "that the deceased died from
bleeding of the lungs accelerated by injuries
received in an accident."

If you e mail me I can send you a copy of the newspaper image. I will try a search for a possible accident report some four years prior to his death to find out which colliery he was working at at the time of the initial accident. The report just states a South Wales colliery
