• DONNA IN EUROPE -- Adam, 17:03:06 02/16/08 Sat
  Hello everyone,
  
  I have the first report about Donna's trip. They made it!!!! Olda, Peter and me were waiting at the airport and yesterday at 3 p.m. local time they arrived. Unluckily it was the coldest day of this winter in Czech Republic and so we were freezning.
  
  We are staying at Peter's and we have walked at least 10 miles in Prague so far. Castle, astronomical clock, Charle's bridge, museums, stores, they are excited about everything and very happy to be here.
  
  On Monday they are going to Brno, my city, where they will stay until Thursday when they are returning home.
  
  We will post some pictures asap.

  hey everyone
  just thought i would stop by and check in
  it's wierd thinking about camp in the middle of my state testing and then looking outside and it's snowing.
  ugh...just gets me all spazzing out.
  well..good thing is there's only..uhm...six more months until i go to camp??
  well...it's just a bit too depressing to think of how many days until i can go back up there.
  things are good down here in the suburbs...not a lot.
  i've just discovered my complete obsession for music and i've become addicted. haha...cant stop...too hard.
  constant noise is good for me.
  and i think i'm actually beginning to miss that darling old bell hhaa...now how long did it take to miss that old thing??
  haha anywayy....i miss you guys so much
  if i were to be trapped on a desert island with only three things it would be music, joe jonas, and you guys. haha i dont care how much just all of you.

  okay..so i know it might be a bit obsessive to be posting another really long message but i was just checking in to ask a few questions and everything.
  so...two nights ago i went to my first official concert!
  oh. my. god. it was the BEST NIGHT EVER!
  i saw cobra starship, metro station, we the kings and the cab...but you probably dont want to hear about that..haha
  anyway
  i was just thinking of the night when Freefall came to camp to give us a concert!
  i still have the poster!
  just wondering if you guys were going to perhaps do that again this year??
  it was a really great experience.
  in some ways...concerts like that are better than big ones like the jonas brothers ones (evenn tho i wud do ANYTHING to go to one..but thats just me)

  I miss you all sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much! Every year i always forget to light my candle. Right now I am in my dining room looking back on camp farwell memo' s (like when i was "fishing" and fell in the lake) and a bunch of other times . What's really on my nerves right now is that my dance teacher play this song every mon. and tues. and the first part is guitar, not like Jo bro guitar like classic guitar and then some body starts saying "bassia bassia"and it's stuck in my head now.   the bad news is that my 1st horse went lame and now my second horse has a bone chip for race and he soon will go lame.......BUT on the bright side is that we r going to find a perfect one...(i hope)...and yeah......

  Wow, I just realized I haven't posted anything on the message board for as long as I can remember...I'm not even sure if I posted anything after I got home from camp this summer. But either way, I miss everyone so much, you have no idea. This summer was really an important experience for me and I hope that one summer I'll be able to come visit or maybe come back as a counselor (maybe in a few years but don't really know). For now I'm just taking things as they come, but I just wanted to say how much I miss camp and I want everyone to know that I'm thinking about each and every one of you more than you know.   hi ladies! ellie here. sorry i haven't posted in soooooo long, but school and everything has gotten to run my life this year, i've barely had time to breath!
  
  so these past couple of months have been pretty good. i have a relativley good class scheduele, with exception of my math class. but curricular is good, what is even better are the so- curriculars. the class of 2010 won the fall tournament of plays, which i was featured as "mom-bot"! we were in a play called "property rites" and it's about this sales man who buy this set of 16 "figures" which are robots. he tries to sell them, but it doesn't really work out, then he has the repair company come in to fix one of them, and finds out that they are all broken and he won't be able to get any money off of them. then two of the figures gain autonomy or the ability to run themselves on their own, without the press of a button, like how we all run ourselves. the ending was really creepy, but i won't give that away incase you see it sometime.
  
  i have had to cut down to one day of riding a week because my scheduele is SO busy, but the days i do go are very very fun, but getting very very cold. i also have a job at a local grocery store that will start when it opens in december. i am a coffee barista at the coffee bar inside.
  
  i just have a couple queations:
  i know the deadline for the CIT applications was pushed off about a month, but are the replies coming anytime soon?
  
  and where are the logs? i really miss seeing the log every month in my mailbox!
  
  well, hope everyone has a great thanksgiving! i know i will, because i am going to st. croix to meet my stepfathers family!!

  I just want to show you what kind of influence Farwell has:
  my daugther and I are off to Czech Republic in February. We are going over for a week to visit some of the alumni staff. We are both very excited. We will leave feb. 14 and get there the 15. I think it will be very exciting.

  Hello all my sweeties all over the globe,
  
  I have now got some fantastic news which results in some bad news.
  
  I have been accepted to an ambassador program and now I am officially a U.N. youth ambassador! I am going to work with different projects all over the country and specialize in the Millennium Goals. This means that I can’t come back to Farwell next year because I will be working with the projects.
  
  By the way we got our first snow in where I live in Sweden today. I have stayed inside because I have a cold, but it sure looked pretty ourside.

  quiet and cool.
  
  There is a loon that is performing a ritual on the water. Curious to watch.
  
  Geese take a noisy break from their southward flight now and then.
  
  Determined beavers rebuild their dam every day after Charyl and Bob break it up.
  
  Visitors walk in and around or drive in frequently. Just looking around. No doubt enticed by the happy noises of summer that they heard from camp.
  
  The sounds and sights of summer linger in our memories and promise another fun Farwell experience in 2008.
  
  A great 2008!- that has a nice ring to it.

  Hey everyone,
  I am now writing from my hostel in NYC, just hours away from getting on my plane and flying out of the US. I have spent the time after camp traveling with Kate B and it has been a blast. We both visited Boston and New York city. I got to see some faces from camp: Emily Dagget,Inbal, Hannah W, Mary, Becky, Zaida Garcia and Kate of course (my travel buddy).
  
  I want to thank Emily Dagget and her parents of being so nice and inviting me in to your home,and helping me to find my friend in Boston. :) just thinking of it makes me smile.
  
  From the bottom of my heart I want to give a extra thanks to Zaida Garcia and her amazing family who invited me to stay over at their place last nighgt. You guys are amazing and I will miss you so much.
  
  Well now is the time to say goodbuy to New York and the US. I am soon heading to Becky Jenkin's hostel and we are from there gonna go to JFK and get on the plane to London and there I am gonna fly back to Stockholm.
  
  Thanks so much for this summer.

  Hello Everyone,
  I guess it was pretty funny because Ellie and i had the same idea, i was posting to see what was happening with the pictures and when i got to the board i saw she ha posted regarding them as well. Its so funny to look back at posts through-out the past year and see the new staff members posting to say hello and what they were teaching and how excited they were about it. i was looking and saw Charlotte posted before, and its funny cause' reading her post several months ago i was excited to be able to watch the videos, and it ended up she was in my cabin a a counselor. its just a lot of fun, and it brings back memories for fun times in GP <33333 i miss everyone, and wish the best of luck to everyone during their school year and the best of luck to those lucky enough to travel all around after camp. i will miss you all, but please stay in touch, if you don't have my info, just reply to this and i will send it to you, or just if you want to say hello. i wanted to thank all the people who made me feel just as welcome during first session as i have previously during 2nd session. all you girls are terrific and im going to miss you all. i will see you all again next year, but until then i send my love and i will do my best to keep in touch but pretty soon as the school year progresses, you know what happens you barely have enough time to breathe let alone write an email or two.

  KING'S COURT UNITE!
  I miss you guys so much! I can't wait to come visit on the weekend!
  To all those other cabins... King's court is overall the best.
  
  You know... I didn't want to go to camp. I thought I would hate it and it would be the worst possible thing i would have ever done. Now that its over and I'm back home (actually I slept over Delia's house the 1st night I got back and I'm still at Delia's) I realize how much people at camp mean to me. Despite it being my 1st year, I'd like to consier Camp Farwell another home to me. I met some amazing people at camp who had taught me alot. I also dont think I'm as shy when it comes to drama. (haha! "I'm swishing and flicking the best I can, it's just not working!" or mabye "I'm not a monster! I'm a little girl, ok a very big little girl."
  
  I guess in the end I want to thnak everyone. Everyone who took the time to get to know me. The people who became friends with me.
  
  And as a final inside joke... I would liuke to tell Amanda Johnson to store her deoderant at room temp. :)

  Hey Everyone!
  
  Well, I'm already back in London, and life is moving at a whirlwind pace. I leave for a hiking trip in whales tomorrow (should be interesting), then orientation on friday, and school starts up next tuesday! ahhhhhh! honestly, the real world has completely snuck up on me.
  I hope that everyone got home safely and that all of the counselors are having fun on their travels. It's quite odd to think of Farwell all closed down and quiet, with just a few people left on the grounds.
  To Shelby, yes i DID give you the right address, I'm sorry for my hesitation!
  To Paola, I will definitely be in Spain in the coming months, we must stay in touch!
  To Cosi, Sandra, Sivan, and Jesse - i'll be in paris (probably) in November! we must hang out!!!!!!!
  To Rubes and the few others that i did not have the chance to say goodbye to on Saturday morning - I'm sooooo sorry, I was sort of bawling and my mother was literally PUSHING me into the car. lol.
  To all counselors and campers - I miss everyone so much, and hope that I'll be back again next summer!!!!!!!! : ) have an amazing year!

  Hello Girlies,
  I just wanted to post to say i got home safe, but i also feel like someone has ripped my heart into pieces but making me leave camp. usually im there for second session, but i was so thankful to see first session, seeing as for some of you this will be your last year as a camper, cit or staff member. i want to thank everyone for making me feel so at home, and just making my year golden, emotion, and intensly hard to say goodbye, while in the background are tear-filled eyes singing.."oh me oh my we'll get there by and by...." Its strange the differences of being home versus camp, well for one, i don't have to get up so early, but i must say i miss sleeping until after hopper bell (including the hopper) then realizing 5 min. before breakfast that we should get ready and look alive, or for the fact that my shower is only..wait let me measure exactly..10 feet and 7 inches. away from my bedroom door, or for the fact that i can't dance sing and be a fool at the dinner table...hehe green pastures knows..those darn forks, or your mom jokes. And the best part that i miss is the 10 different kinds of bugs that use to swarm around my darn torch, and my cabin would yell at me cause i was making too much noise trying to kill them. Oh Alicia did you find everything you needed? And charlotte you'll enjoy this, last night we had a like 1/2 hour long conversation about scones versus biskits and cookies and what not, it was good fun you should have been there. Now i'm calling biskits scones, and yeah, its funny.

• The War Canoe Race -- Sylvia, 20:14:02 08/12/07 Sun
  The War Canoes were plying the waters of Halls Lake this afternoon with campers and staff forming two teams rowing against each other.
  
  Other lake boating traffic took to shore and watched the two canoes glide smoothly to the far side about mid-lake with most of the 30 oars moving in unison and the counselors chanting a count. They stopped, lined up, and counselors in kayaks checked their position and gave the signal.
  
  The sight and sense of an ancient tradition and the excitement of the competition made another afternoon at Farwell fun and memorable.

  Hey everyone, I hope everyone is well at camp. I am beginning my last adventure for the summer today. I am going back to Kenya to visit my family. It should be pretty cool my friend (and Sophie of course)are coming with. And I know the language pretty well. I am going for over 3 weeks which is a good amount of time. It will be nice to go back to Kenya where I lived for a while and see my family. But at least it will keep me busy. I've been missing Farwell more and more each day. • Sylvia's Ramblings -- Sylvia, 15:07:36 08/10/07 Fri
  We are enjoying a beautiful sunny afternoon with a light breeze and temperature creeping up to eighty in the sun. It's an afternoon of great camping weather much like yesterday with the lake looking colorful with the ski boat alternately pulling skiers and campers on the tube, and the banana boat and the red and yellow and blue kayaks skillfully maneuvering in groups on the water accompanied by squeals of laughter from the swimming area water slide.
  
  The Horse Show today gave our riders a chance to be judged by a professional area judge. Horses and riders looked great and performed well.
  
  Two of Camp Farwell's past cooks, Dot and Sue, stopped by for a visit and had lunch with us today.
  If you were here during their reigns over the Farwell Kitchen you must remember the early morning aroma of Dot's coffee cake - a very nice wakeup call - and the pleasure of Sue's culinary specialties.
  
  Tomorrow campers visit an area water park for a breakaway of sun and fun of a different kind.
  
  Then Sunday the festivities of the last week of camp begin, ending with Parents Day on Friday, Aug. 17th when Bob and Charyl will have completed their 30th summer at Farwell.
  
  Camp is on EDST and parents are asked not to arrive on Parents Day before 1:30 p.m. Demonstrations begin at 2:00 p.m. with breaks for parents to participate in water and land sports.
  
  The day will end with dinner on the front porch of the lodge and a skiing demonstration followed by a play performed in the pavilion.
  
  We look forward to seeing you.

  Inbal, Sivan, and Mor prepared an Israelian meal,
  Shakshuka, which combines various foods in an interesting way for a colorful and tasty dish, accompanied with spiced Humus.
  
  Louise and Jessi added a French touch to the meal with baquette and cheese and a dessert of crepes with a choice of strawberries or chocolate.
  
  Thanks girls, it was delicious and a delightful addition to our Farwell cuisine.

  man i just came back from camp farwell it was awsome!!!i wish i could have stayed longer but then i would be sadder!i miss all of my friends immencally!but the people i miss the most is Morgan hartman and Marly pine!!!They are to AWSOME and both are my BEST FRIENDS!man do i miss them!i miss waking up every morning and having the best breakfast, and seeing the horses, and being with my friends! :~( But all of that means that i aam definatly come back next year for 4 weeks!!!

  Hi Everyone!!
  it was soo sad not coming back to camp this year, it just seems sooo wierd not to be there. instead i went down to PA and did college visits, which was definitely not as much fun. The good news is that me and allison linke are trying to arrange a visit so if we could pull it off that would be AMAZING!! i hope everyone is having a great start to second session and i hope to see you soon!

  This was our first year at Camp Farwell When we got there we were nervous but then we started to fit in more get used to the costums. We ended up having a blast bye the end we didn't want to go home but at the same time we were soo happy to be going home. We are bith really going to miss all of our new friends we meet at Camp Farwell we hope to see them all Next year. We know were going back mabey even for four weeks next year.   i've been back about a day and a half, and i miss you all sooo much. this summer was amazing, and i got so close with so many people. CITs 1st sesh you guys are the best and i love you all to death. we've been through so much this month, some good times and some bad times. mostly good though. those of you who stayed on i hope your having a blast (i talked to alicia and ellie yesterday and our convo made my day :)) alicia, keep sacagawea safe and keep prodding away. also say hi to pal for me hahaha. ellie keep me posted on the horsies. to all the counselors i just want to say thanks for making this summer so memorable (especially chaaa-li, tess, inbal, simone, madison, james, luke, all the riding staff, and many others). hope 2nd session is as good as 1st was.

  Last campfire as usual was the saddest night at camp, and it made me realize how much fun I had during the past five weeks. The drive up made me think about camp.I met the greatest people this summer and got closer to people from last year. The counselors were amazing, and made first session a blast. I want to say to the second session campers your in for an amazing time.

  Thank you for giving us such a wonderful place! Our daughter, Piper, misses you all! This was the first overnight camp for her - and us, and although we missed her terribly, it was wonderful to see her new-found skills - horseback riding, kayaking and international friend making!   I cant believe camp is over!!!! The 2 weeks went by so fast! I have only been home for a couple of days and i miss camp so much!!!! I miss all the fun i had and I also miss all of the great people i met when i was there! This summer at camp farwell was probably the funnest one i have ever had! I wish i got to stay longer! I dont know how i am going to survive the rest of the summer without camp!! I have so many good memories from the 2 weeks i was there! Camp Farwell is a great place because it is a place where u can just be yourself and have soooooo much fun and it doesnt really matter what anyone thinks of u.....it just makes me feel so comfortable to know that i have a place where i can just be myself(thats the total opposite of like school)At camp you're not trying to impress anyone...maybe the few hot guy counslers but no pressure is put upon your shoulders. I love that!!!! Miss you guys tons!!! Have a fun rest of the summer u lucky guys who r still at camp farwell!!! Luv ya lots!!!!

  I've only been home from farwell for a little over 24 hours and I already miss all of you guys. To the campers who are still there I am insanely jealous and hope you had fun at whales tales.
  
  The rest of the summer will not be nearly as fun as my two weeks under the pines. No over played Grease and Shaniah on the Juke box, no singing into utensils with Jen and Mary, no Ur mom jokes with Elena, Ellie, Mary, Alicia, and Telmo...what will I find to keep me busy for the rest of the summer!

• Happy Days -- Catriona (90,91,92,93), 17:18:45 07/14/07 Sat
  It's been too many years but I still check the message board and blog regularly especially at this time of year. Memories come flooding back and when I look at all the photos I feel a real mix of emotions and even a tear in the eye. I always find myself saying "one of these days" and when I read about all the traditions that are still carried out, I really feel the "pull". Less of the sentimentality though, a thought for the day from my time as a counselor and director was "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". A good one I think. Ra Ra Camp Farwell as always.
  P.S I think my husband thinks I'm crazy when I get so excited at all the photos. He did however say tonight that one day he'd love to see it all in reality. I'm certainly going to hold him to that!!!

  Today is an away day.
  Most of the campers will see the new movie, "Harry Potter" for which they were loudly enthusiastic when the announcement was made. However, some have opted to visit a local hands-on museum that is a lot of fun. Educational, too, but that's best kept secret, I think.
  
  A few staff who are not fans of Harry (can you imagine?) will remain in camp on regular Friday routine. I am one of those :). A visit with the three new kids less than a week old in the Petting Zoo will be fun.

I'm freaking out i'm thinking right now that after acting camp i have pack and everything that's gonna be my favorite part also me and katy are going to have a sleepover and at midnight we're gonna scream that CAMP IS FINALLY HERE! I hope everybody is having a great time at camp or at home like me probably thinking of camp or going to a camp and thinking about our wonderful home of camp farwell! Well g2g got 2 eat dinner!   We were treated to a delicious Sunday Roast by our counselors from Great Britain which they prepared for our noon meal on Wednesday.
  
  Charlotte O., Jade, F., Jennifer G., Lindsey W., Louisa C., Becky J., Natasha T., and Hannah W. contributed their awesome talents to the preparation and serving of beef, carrots, roast potatoes, mint sauce, gravy, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and for desert, melt-in-your-mouth bread and butter pudding.
  
  ...a fitting and delicious representation of international customs and cuisine which was enjoyed by all.
