Subject: The War Canoe Race

The War Canoes were plying the waters of Halls Lake this afternoon with campers and staff forming two teams rowing against each other.

Other lake boating traffic took to shore and watched the two canoes glide smoothly to the far side about mid-lake with most of the 30 oars moving in unison and the counselors chanting a count. They stopped, lined up, and counselors in kayaks checked their position and gave the signal.

The sight and sense of an ancient tradition and the excitement of the competition made another afternoon at Farwell fun and memorable.
