The rumor probably started because some are not familiar with the shooters. They see him shooting web and it does appear to come from his wrist, but that is where the shooter spits out the web. The only time I've noticed the shooters have been when he is changing them. They should only be bulky around the wrist more than anything. I believe the custom fits over it.

Anyway the fact remains the shooters ARE present!

I can't wait for this movie.
Spiderman was always my favorite hero.
