The funny thing is my other son has a regular gas 89 Golf that has been ridiculously reliable, but the Jetta diesel has been temperamental, and it's one of those rare models for which parts are always a problem. Of course they're both hardly new. The Jetta now has something like 170 thousand miles on it, and the Golf probably about the same. The "new" Cherokee looks like a pretty good deal, with only a little over 100 thousand miles on it and no real issues. My current Cherokee is about to hit 220 thousand, still running strong but suffering from the tinworm. My automotive project for next week is welding in new rocker panels.
