Shadow: We learn what's ailing Joyce. And more about Glory (including her name, I think this episode is the first one where she is actually referred to by name).

Buffy--Having to deal with a non-supernatural threat to her mom. And one she can't actually do anything about. And she's reacting by getting a bit reckless. And by pulling away from the Scoobies.

Including Riley. Who is continuing to spin out of control. This time he actually lets a vampire start to bite him. And he's in a mood where he's interpreting things in the least favorable way. Dawn is TRYING to compliment him in the carousel scene, even though it's clear that's not how Riley takes it.

First time we meet Glory's minion-creatures. And we learn that Glory is working against a time limit.

The thing about summoned creatures is that they obey instructions literally. "Let your vision guide you to its hiding place, and then return to me and tell me where it lies." The idea of actually grabbing the key and returning with it isn't going to occur to them...

Spike continues his obsession. And has fun needling Riley.

And we close on Buffy entering Joyce's hospital room and shutting the door. Leaving Riley watching from the corridor.

The Shroud of Rahmon: Mostly a stand-alone, but also another piece of the "beige Angel" arc. A key question: how much of what happens is the shroud and how much is him?

George the snake!

I was really hoping we would get wwolfe to come out of the woodwork for this episode.

We've caught up well into the shows I remember discussing the first time through on this board. Does that make us old?

Anywho, an interesting story, which is my way of saying, "a lot happened, but without much in the way of a direction."

What is going on with Riley? I don't see much motivation for the direction he's going in. I gues I kept thinking it would be revealed in the end, but it really wasn't. It's all down hill to Buffy's run-for-the-helicopter from here.

Joyce's tumor is pretty disturbing, especially knowing where THAT is going. One of the more amazing arcs this show did.

Buffy and Dawn are still at eac other's throats, but they both have to admit that they love each other. The fighting really appears to be a front that they show each other. It's kind of cute.

Finally, will the Spoike-loves-Buffy-4-evah storyline EVER finish?

No?

damn
