I kinda like Olaf. I'm glad it was decided to be a little lighter this episode after the weight that had been pressed on the audience's chest for the past few weeks.

I do have to say though that I'm kinda not liking how several of the arcs are changing course. Spike and his crush on Buffy simply does not make sense. I guess the writers knew Riley was leaving and wanted to fill in the relationship thing, but wtf? Actually, Tara is about the only character actually consistently IN character at the moment.

This is about where Joss started bringing Firefly into the mix and it shows on Buffy.

Did anybody notice that Willow first mentions the pull of witchcraft on her in the Magic Box while trying to make Anya float pencils? It's earlier foreshadowing than I expected.

Now, can we get back to the main arc of the season?

As for ItW...

Remember what I said about Buffy v Dracula? About my mother telling me to say nothing if I couldn't say something nice?

Riley left.

Triangle: Xander caught in the middle between Willow and Anya.

Not as much fun for him as it might sound. :-)

Willow and Anya. Mutual distrust leading to constant bickering. They do come to a certain understanding by the end. And we get more backstory on Anya.

Xander. As he complains to Spike, he keeps feeling like he's being forced to choose between his best friend and his girlfriend. Finally resolves this by refusing to choose, even under threat of death.

Spike. Continues with his obsession. He's now openly trying to impress Buffy but isn't making much progress in that.

(Incidentally, I think Spike's crush on Buffy makes a good deal of sense. He's always been kind of intrigues by her. And it isn't that big a leap for Spike from wanting especially to kill her to simply wanting her. Especially, since he's been fascinated by the Slayer from the first he heard they existed.)

(I recall James Marsters saying somewhere that he deliberately played Spike having an underlying attraction to Buffy back as far as "School Hard". Have no idea where I saw this.)

Buffy. Trying to deal with Riley's departure. Doing reasonably well--most of the time. We also get another example of why it's a bad idea to anger Buffy when you're fighting her.

Tara. Nice scenes with Buffy. And with Willow and Anya. Note how she tactfully excuses herself after the Willow/Anya/Xander argument.

And we close on Dawn hearing another unsettling conversation.

Redefinition: Angel obsesses over Darla and Dru. While the rest of the Fang Gang decides to keep the agency going.

And Lindsey and Lilah get a joint assignment...
