Subject: the word "buffy" in my histology/blood cells lecture :)

histology lectures are usually such a drag. but one time the guy was saying something very dreary about what happens to blood when you separate its components, and that was when i heard "buffy."

shocking, yes?

apparently, blood separates into three layers: plasma on top (ie, water and proteins), red blood cells at the bottom, and in between them, there's this tiny layer made of white blood cells and platelets (things that are involved in wound healing) called the "BUFFY COAT."

interesting, yes?
(but apparenly it's called buffy cause its color is "buff"-y. still. interesting.)
