1. The episode begins with a nice bit of Buffy-Xander bonding. We get brief references to: renegade Slayers (and Buffy’s responsibilities for same), possible problems in Buffy’s relationship with Willow, Xander’s lack of male friends, and Buffy’s lack of : a. a man, and b. good old fashioned vampire slaying. The scene reminds me of the scoobie interactions of the old days, and covers a lot of ground for such a short conversation.

2. The party scene is cute. I’ve lugged a few kegs myself (when I was much younger), and I can’t imagine how much grip strength it takes to rip the top off of one.

3. The vampfight/ Satsu conversation is also cute. Buffy has figured out whose kiss woke her up in the first arc, and has finally gotten around to dealing with it. I think she handles it well - particularly since she does it in the middle of a brawl. Satsu has style - she decapitates a vamp (who’s behind her), while talking to Buffy (who’s in front of her) – without turning around . Buffy breaks down a little just before Twilight shows up; evidently she still has a lot of unresolved issues.

4. Twilight can fly. He seems to be invulnerable. He breaks a katana blade with his fist, and uses architecture as a weapon. He appears to be more powerful than Adam, Glory, or Caleb – and at the end of their brief fight, Buffy is still standing. It looks like she’s gotten a lot stronger since season 7.

5. Twilight’s plan is to attack Buffy’s “moral center”; he’s going to sap her will by making her question the morality of her actions. We’ve seen variations of this before – several of Buffy’s opponents have tried to beat her by undermining her willpower, and it’s never worked. We see one reason for this in the last scene, which is a nice counterpoint to the first scene. Xander, restoring her confidence by reminding her of the good that she’s done.
