I don't remember that at all.

I also think, that if it had been part of the original episode that aired, a few people would have picked up on it. I remember instead that most people were very angry that Spike had died, so think this might have softened some of that - or raised questions until they were subsequently answered about a day later when it was announced Spike would be on AtS.
