Subject: So how many hellmouths are there?

I was watching Never Leave Me this morning on FX and Quentin Travers makes a reference to THE hellmouth. I know in Chosen, Giles says there is a hellmouth in Cleveland and I thought in The Wish that the alternate Buffy was in Cleveland at a hellmouth. So I assume there must be at least two hellmouths but Quentin clearly says the hellmouth. Is there a primary hellmouth in Sunnydale and auxiliary hellmouths elsewhere? If these hellmouths exist, who is preventing the inevitable apocalypses associated with these hellmouths? Just wondering.
