The impression I always had was that the life support systems were the only things keeping Brad and the other (already cut) victims alive. This is because I find it doubtful that W&H would take only the external organs when there are so many goodies lying underneath. So, I always felt that they weren't just missing limbs & eyes, but also kidneys, hearts, lungs, etc. And being slowly cannibalized, bit by bit, until you can't exist outside the very life support systems that restrain you was probably enough to make the victims suicidal. Anyway, I always felt that it was a much smaller moral quandary of Angel & Lindsey wanting to save people who literally *can't* be saved and then having to decide what to do based on that knowledge. Leave them for W&H or accede to their demands and end their misery?
