Subject: Firefly: Dead Or Alive (also spoilers for "Serenity: the Movie")

If you don't know what I'm talking about, Dead Or Alive is the Firefly episode that got to shooting script stage but was never filmed. The shooting script is available in various locations and easily found by typing the title into a search engine, but I'm not linking directly here in case of IP issues.

If this one had been made, it would have been a really, really good episode. I can hear the characters delivering the lines as I read. Given my love for a certain scene in War Stories, I'm a little annoyed that Cheryl Cain did the old "he needs to do this himself" trope completely straight in this ep, but it's a minor crit.

River entertaining the kids is cute and creepy in exactly the right measure, but Simon is really dark here in ways that would probably have had fall-out in later eps. Agin, it's annoying the show was cancelled that way. It's a pity Inara ends up reduced to nursing assistant for most of it, though. It's really sad that Baldwin didn't get to do those scenes with the turtle, especially the one where he nearly gives it to Kaylee but catches himself.

One question: now that the Alliance's evil has been proven by the film, would some viewers have found themselves sympathising more with the terrorist in this one?
