GIRL IN MOLESTATION CASE TO TESTIFY VIA TV

A 16-year-old girl who claims she was molested by an activist with ties to anti-abortion violence will testify from Northern Ireland via satellite television during his trial next month.

Circuit Judge Ron Swan-son on Tuesday set aside four days for John Burt's trial, beginning March 29.

The girl was 15 last year when she accused Burt, 65, of touching her improperly and writing her a proposition at Our Father's House, a home he ran for troubled young women in this Florida Panhandle city.

Her father, who lives in South Florida, then sent her to live with relatives in her homeland and has refused to let her return to testify.

Swanson rejected the idea of sending Burt, his lawyer and a prosecutor overseas to obtain in-person testimony because he was worried the defendant would not be allowed to enter Northern Ireland due to his past.
