IRELAND: MOVE TO EXPEL JUDGE

Parliament began impeachment hearings against a judge for the first time in the country's history. The government will have difficulty proving that the judge, Brian Curtain, engaged in improper behavior since an out-of-date police search warrant caused his acquittal in April on charges of viewing Internet child pornography. Mr. Curtain, who has refused to resign his post in County Kerry, was subsequently arrested for drunk driving and is receiving treatment in Dublin. Brian Lavery (NYT)
