Subject: The MacAllister series by KinleyMacGregor/Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Okay, here's the thing-I don't believe for one minute that Kieran MacAllister killed himself, especially over a woman. Why? For several reasons, which I'll list below.Keep in mind that I'm only halfway through Taming the Scotsman at this point,so if I list something that is proved/unproved later on in the story-Fie on me for being so impatient..*G*

None of the MacAllister bros.,or anybody else in the clan, ever actually saw Kieran drown himself, nor has his body ever turned up.I was under the impression that dead men float,at least for a little while. All that was found was his sword and his plaid, correct? Who's to say he didn't stand there, contemplating Isabail's betrayal of him,and get so filled with rage against her and Ewan, that he decided to leave the clan, without looking back/going back for "plain clothes",if you will, because maybe he wanted to harm Ewan, and in this series,it is said over and over that to harm/threaten one brother is to threaten them all. So,what if he figured it was btter to leave than hurt Ewan, and his other brothers as well,in doing so? That he was so hurt and humiliated,he didn't want to face the others,so he just took off, which leads me to my theory about who he might be-check this out:
http://www.kinleymacgregor.com/brother/scot.htm
Now,that first paragraph,it says he came seeking his brother who had vanished there years ago.Sin was an assassin for the Saracens,(sold into slavery to them by Harold of Ravenswood,if I remember right)he HAS been in the Holy Land, isn't that where/how he met King Henry? What if Kieran went to seek out Sin,wanting the only family he felt like facing, one that wasn't there to witness his betrayal and humiliation by Isabail & Ewan firsthand, one who knew what it felt like to not belong?I refuse to believe he killed himself, and especially by drowning, since it seems to me that would be a rather painful and diffficult way to go,given that he had a sword handy that he could've used.Breathing is both a voluntary and involuntary thing,so,while I'm not saying it couldn't be done,it seems to me that it would be sort of hard to drown yourself, and especially considering how big Kieran is supposed to be.I suppose he could have tied rocks to his ankles or some nonsense, but if you really wanted to kill yourself, there are quicker ways, you know?

Now,Donna's interview with Sherri is just another reason why I don't think Kieran's "dead"-When Nick killed himself,Artemis was all freaked out about" the consequences of making a DH out of a suicide". Did she do it once before, with Kieran, and this is how she knows? It's not impossible that Sherri would tie her top two series together like this eventually, right? Remembering that part of Donna's interview, and vaguely recognizing the name "Lysander" and "Pagan" in Ewan's book, made me pop onto the Kinley site and do some poking around.I do have "Return of the Warrior",although I haven't read "A Dark Champion",and since the MacAllister series & the brotherhood series are loosely tied together,I started thinking Kieran could be "The Scot",of the Quinfortis mentioned. If he is,it's entirely possible he could still become a DH,beyond that,even-it says "The Scot" had one eye seared closed-remember,Zarek's face was such a mess that Artie "fixed" it,after she made him a DH,he was so maimed.Am I making any sense with all this rambling? Mo? GOOD! Sherri knows how to keep us from being bored, that's for sure!

[> Bo, you ARE definitely on to something. You will find out more about it at the end of Taming the Scotsmen. Then you need to read Simon's, Stryder's, and Christian of Acre's stories. The MacAllister's/Brotherhood of the Sword series is fabulous. I am impatiently waiting for the next installment. It was supposed to be Lachlan's story, and we were supposed to learn more about the elusive Scot, but Lachlan wasn't talking to Sherri. -- heatherl, 16:29:46 05/25/06 Thu

[> Oh, one thing about tying the series together. She can't; at least for now. They are published by different companies. She would have to work some major mojo to make that happen. The question has come up before. I have noticed that she has overlapped names here and there, so who knows what the future holds. The end of Taming will tie the MacAllisters in much more closely w/ the Brotherhood too. -- heatherl, 16:36:12 05/25/06 Thu
