Subject: I understood why he took revenge on Lydia the only way he could. She abused him, and he struck back with his only weapon, which was to refuse her what he openly gave to others. It was harsh and cruel, but what was he supposed to do? Just become Lyda's doting husband? No Way! It didn't change how I viewed him at all. It totally fit with how someone of Nicholas' pride and strength would have reacted after being forced into the situation and watching his friends burn to death. Lyda slipping on the ice could have happened before she caught him with the sister or whenever so he wasn't responsible for that.
