Subject: MISS WORLD 2003 TO BE HELD IN CHINA AS SCHEDULED

The 53rd Miss World Competition is to be held in the city of Sanya in China's southernmost Hainan province, from Nov. 9 to Dec. 6 as scheduled, the first time China will hold the pageant.

Contenders from 117 countries and regions would converge on Sanya and the pageant would be televised live to those countries and regions, said sources with the Sanya municipal government on Sunday.

The cultural exhibition center, named 'The Crown of Beauty', is designed and built especially for this contest. Located by the scenic tropical Sanya river, the center covers a total area of 90,000 square meters with an investment of 120 million yuan (about 14.5 million US dollars).

The first-phase project includes building a main building, a square, a parking lot, a cruise ship wharf and auxiliary service facilities, covering a construction area of 40,000 square meters.

The Miss World Competition, which was launched in 1951 in London as part of the New Year celebrations in Britain at the sponsorship of Eric Morley, who died in the year 2000. His widow Julia Morley succeeded him and is now executive chairperson of the competition's organizing agency.

I think some Missologists and pageant fans from Brazil has not gotten over the fact, that Ms. Brazil was not crowned Ms. Universe. For them the old issue still an issue. Here's one recent post entitled "WHO LOOKS BETTER?"

LETTING GO
Know that letting go of love is a part of life. Whether from death or breaking up, everyone on the planet goes through it at one time or another. Knowing when to break up is not always an easy or clear decision. Some tips:

• He makes chopped liver (or other foods he knows you hate) a lot more than he used to.
• He consistently forgets any three of the following: a date you've made, your birthday, what you like or what you hate in bed, or your name.
• You go more than a month without talking about anything but the weather.
• He continually rejects your sexual advances.
• He gets physically abusive.
* You can always find reasons to break up. But you can also find reasons to stay together. These balance the what-to-do-scale. Focus on the reasons to stay together. When the scale is so weighted that you can't focus on the positives, then it may be time to part.
* If you are unhappy with the relationship and want things to change, it is your responsibility to initiate the change. Don't expect him to shake things up if he's happy with the status quo.
* If you are bored by your boyfriend, before you dump him, look at it as a challenge to make the relationship more exciting. (I wish all guys have this kind of principle, like me - Dave)
* If you want out, don't make his life miserable just so he'll want out to.
* Don't stay in a bad relationship merely because you're frightened you'll never find another man.
* Don't stay in a bad relationship because you're scared of being single in the world of AIDS.
* Don't be so eager to jump ship and start over. Think of ways to make it work out before you give up.
* Do the right thing. If you dump him, do it with kindness.
* When you're ending it, tell him very clearly that it's over. Don't leave any room for doubt.
* If you want to wait awhile before you see him again, tell him. Be explicit as to what "awhile" means.
* If you sincerely never want to see him again, tell him.
* Remember, trash is the garbage you take out, not a verb to describe how you talk about your boyfriend after the break-up.
* Don't ask mutual friends to choose between you.
* Don't sink into the "if only I'd..." trap.
* Think twice before trying to win him back. It's usually a waste of time, not to mention potentially humiliating and painful.
* If it's you who's been dropped, expect to be in shock for a while.
* For your own sake, work toward forgiving him for dumping you. If you don't, you'll bring heavy baggage with you into your next relationship.
* Sex between exes is playing with fire. Don't get burned.
* Move on.
* Always remember: If he doesn't want to be coupled with you, then he's not the right man for you.
* Pamper yourself. Letting go is hard work.
* Letting go is a process. Don't expect it to happen immediately or on demand.
* When you feel up to it, try to examine fearlessly and objectively why he dumped you. Was it traits in yourself that you'd like to change?

The Wise Man

There was this man who happened to be searching for something lacking within him.... the intelligence that is a vital quality in everybody’s existence. The only solution he thought was to find the wise man that will help curing what he was experiencing.

On his way, he met Mr. Tin Man, who was also facing a dilemma as he could not feel what love is all about since he had no “heart”. He encouraged Mr. Tin Man to join with him in searching the wise man.

While walking, they also met Mr. Lion, the king of the jungle, an epitome of strength and bravery. But to their dismay, Mr. Lion was living with fear. He encouraged him also to join them.

It was a long journey. At last, they had found the wise man. The wise man listened to their problems. He advised them to cultivate and explore each one’s self so that they can find what they are looking for. At first, it was very hard for them to think of how they will re-assess themselves. But at the end, with sheer determination, they were able to do it and they could solve their problem.

It is true that there is something within us that have to be tapped. Nobody is born without a brain; it’s a matter of how we are using it. Nobody is born without a heart. It is for us to share love to identify the heart’s function. And there is no such thing as being coward. Each of us should be brave in facing life’s challenges.

Sa wakas nagkaroon na rin tayo ng sariling tahanan. Isang Masayang Tahanan. Dahil nga puno ng pagmamahalan ang tahanan na ito, ito'y pilit na dinudorog ng mga terrorista. Ngunit hindi nila alam ang kanilang paninira ay lalo tuloy naging daan upang maging matibay ang pondasyon ng tahanan na ito. Sabi nga sa Mahal na Kasulatan " A foolish man build his house upon the sand, when the floods comes in, the house gave-in. A wise man build his house upon the rock, when the floods comes in, it remains still." Why, it is because it was build on the solid ground. And we are like the wiseman that build our house on the solid ground-our foundation is our friendship.

Dito sa tahanan na ito, we can share our laughters, our dreams, our anecdotes, our lives, etc...and thank God, thru this MB I have the opportunity to express How I Love my Mother.

It was my mother who gave me the strenght to keep going on despite all the trials I faced. No'ng bata pa ako pag Christmas lagi kong kinanta ang Joy to the Lord, kahit hindi ko alam ang lyrics noon. Basta banat lang ako ng ganito "JOY TO THE WORD THE LORD IS CAM, BESRSING, BERSING, BERSING!!!..basta lang mapasaya ko lang ang mader ko.

Kaya, after graduation from high school. Buong tapang akong lumuwas ng Davao City, upang maghanap ng trabaho at makapag-aral sa kolehiyo. Kasi, inggit ako doon sa kapitbahay namin na may anak na nag-aaral sa Davao. Pagsumakay yan ng jeep para sa bayan para luluwas ng siyudad, sabihin kaagad ng mader "Paupuin nyo ang anak ko na Nar." Medyo nahiya yong anak, at sabay sabi "Nanay naman lagyan nyo naman ng S." "O sige, paupuin nyo ang anak ko na NAR..ES." Pero, nung lumabas ang result sa board exam, sus, parang maloka ang mader at sabay takbo sa niyugan at yakap-yakap ang puno ng mga niyog. Dahil, una: hindi nakapasa ang anak, 2. Naka prenda sa banko ang niyugan, dahil sa pangtustus sa anak na nag review sa Maynila.

Thank God. My first job was a contractual sa Davao Light as a JANITOR. I worked in the morning, and study at night.

When graduation came. Lumuwas ang pader at mader ko from our place to celebrate with me. Ang kagandahan lang sa school namin, hindi lamang yung magtapos na aakyat sa staged upang tumanggap ng diploma, kundi isa sa mga parents sasabay sa pag-akyat upang tanggapin din ang "Certificate of Appreciation." That was the very time I kissed on my mother's cheek. Kasi, sa bukid parang asiwa sila ng ganuon.

After the grduation rites, I invited my parents sa isang kiosk para mag snack. After I placed my order, nagpaalam ako to see my friend na isang florist. Kinuha ko yong order ko na bouquet na puro rosas para ibigay ko sa mader ko bilang pasasalamat sa kanya. Nang ibigay ko na ang mga ROSAS, nabigla ang mader ko because it was very time she received flowers, at medyo sa tingin nya mahal yong (actually Php300 was very expensive in 1981). Sabi kaagad ng mader ko, "SANA BINILI MO NA LANG ITO NG BIGAS!"..medyo napatawa ako, pero I appreciate my mader, dahil hindi nya inuna ang kanyang munting kasiyahan, nasa puso pa rin nya ang aking mga kapatid..na ang halaga ng bulaklak na yon ay sapat na para sa isang sakong bigas.

Kaya ng umuwi ang mader ko. Pinadalhan ko siya ng groceries at pera pang bili ng 2 sakong bigas. Abah, may pera yata ako. Ka re-released lang ng loan ko sa SSS noh, Php 1,000.00.

Basta ang kalaro ko noon ay puro babae at lagi kaming nag bahay-bahayan. Ganyan lang ka simple ang buhay.

Umaga palang ay nakabihis na ako dahil pupunta kami ng nanay ko sa bayan para ma-myesta. Bago ang damit ko (eh, tuwing piyesta lang talaga kami maka suot ng bago)at bago rin ang sapatos, kaya lang medyo maluwang. Pag tinanong mo si mader bakit sobra yata ang size na binili. Sasagutin ka ba naman, "kasi anak lalaki ka pa." Hindi naisip ni mader na paglaki ko sira na ang shoes ko. Isusuot ko uli ang aking bagong damit at sapatos sa December 15, Christmas Party sa school.

Ang saya-saya sa bayan. May ferris wheel, at nag pabili pa ako ng cotton candy. Bibigyan ka nga ng cotton candy pero merong kasamang kurot mula kay mader. Inggit na inggit ako doon sa mga batang mayroong balloons. "nay, bili mo ako ng balloons," sabi ko. "Hey, hindi nakakain yan. Ibili na lang natin ng bigas," sabay dilat ang mga mata ni mader.

Abah, may singing contest para sa mga bata. Sponsored ng Darigold Milk. Pwede lahat na bata mag palista. Walang audition. Ako kahit walang "K" ewan ko ba sa mader ko at pinalista ako. Sayang nga naman ang premyo isang kahong gatas.

No later Bible references to Sodom ever mention homosexuality as the sin of Sodom. Many modern translations add words to the text to create the lie that the people of Sodom were homosexual."SODOMY" is not a biblical word. Laws against sodomy not only violate the Constitutional guarantee of separation of church and state; they also use an incorrect and wrongly translated term for the laws. A "Sodomite" in the Bible is simply a person who lives in Sodom, which included Lot and his family. The term "sodomite" in the King James Version of Deuteronomy 23:17 and I Kings 14:24 is an incorrect translation of the Hebrew word for "temple prostitute." (See the recent book by Mark D. Jordan: The Invention of Sodomy in Christian Theology. University of Chicago Press, 1997.)The average person assumes that the Bible clearly condemns male to male sexual intercourse as "sodomy" and that the city of Sodom was destroyed because of homosexuality, which is seen as the worst of all sins in the Bible. These assumptions are based on no evidence at all in the Bible. No Jewish scholars before the first Christian century taught that the sin of Sodom was sexual. If the men were homosexual, why did Lot offer to give them his daughters? These hostile and violent people were heterosexual, and homosexual orientation had nothing to do with the incident.

The Bible never gives any details about sexual acts. The only clear Hebrew term for sexual acts is "to lie with," which is left without any further explanation.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN SODOM?

To twist the story to say what it does not say is to miss what it does say. The story does not deal with sexual orientation or with homosexuality and has no bearing at all on the issue of God's acceptance or rejection of Gays and Lesbians. The story of Sodom clearly teaches that evil and violent people who attack aliens and strangers whom they do not know or understand receive God's quick and terrible punishment. The purpose of the story is to show that misunderstood, strange, or feared minorities in any community are in danger from violence by the majority when that majority is ignorant, ungodly, selfish and afraid. The real message of Sodom is backwards from the claims of homophobic preachers and teachers. The Gay and Lesbian minority in our society today is more like the guests in Lot's house who were protected behind closed doors ("in the closet") than like the frightened mindless mob that wanted to expose, humiliate and destroy people that they did not "know" and control.Set the record straight! Genesis 19 is about the fear (like homophobia) and anger of a mob (like many misguided religious fanatics) directed against a small group of isolated strangers (like Gays and Lesbians today) in their midst. Sexual orientation is not the issue here or anywhere else in the Bible.Read also the strange story in Judges 19:1-30 of the Levite in Gibeah, which was patterned after the story of Lot and the angels in Genesis 19. Jewish teachers before the time of Christ never saw either of these stories as having any connection with homosexuality or sexual orientation. Neither should we.

To all my fellow posters and the "Gang of Four" I'm just dropping by just to say I'm glad that it's good to be back here.

And to those who suffered immensely through their crises recently (like Alieen Damiles) and this is what I have learnt from my recent nightmare and ultimately terrifying experience that resulted of severe trauma is that no matter what happens, despite all the low blows that life lobs at us from time to time, we've got to keep a healthy perspective on things. I've come to realise that we human beings get so tunnel-visioned at times that we have that one thing in our heads that we want to get and forget all the other gifts God has given us. We mustn't forget.

It's becoming clearer to me and soon it will be a realisation for me that everything happens for the best.
If something a bad, a very bad thing happened, you have to look at the brighter side, you have to believe that it is a blessing and that there's a silver lining awaiting for you.
No matter how painful and difficult your fall but do not stumble. You have to keep moving...move forward.

If I may allow, pls I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude and sincerest appreciation those (you know who you are) who offered assistance during those difficult times of my life and their thoughts and prayers to pass my crisis I've been through.
I will start a new chapter of my life.

Lastly, I will say w/out hesitation to praise and thank our Divine Creator for keeping me safe and that I was able to get through and be re-united with my loved ones in one piece, "To almighty God, I praise you, halleluyiah!!!!"

I have been receiving indicators that again, another beauty queen might be dethroned anytime soon. I feel disturbed that this beauty queen might lose her crown since I personally like her.

Since this is a very sensitive issue, I will not give further clues. I just hope and pray that the apparent problems can be settled soon.
