Thank you for this site! I grew up in the Philly area, and Gino's was my favorite fast-food place!
I remember going to the one on a hill near Baederwood (611? in Jenkintown?); the one on Cheltenham Avenue near the Cheltenham Mall; and of course the big one on Chestnut Street near 15th. I used to go to the one on Chestnut every weekend before going to a movie at one of the many movie theaters in that area.
I remember they had a burger (the Homestyle?) that had some pinkness in the center, instead of the overcooked gray of other fast-food places. I had never had a fast-food burger like that before; it was wonderful! They also were the first place to have a "fixins bar," where you could put your own toppings on, and I used to load up with obscene amounts of pickles!
I always thought of Kentucky Fried Chicken as simply a menu item at Gino's; I remember how very confused I was when I moved to Florida in 1978 and saw for the first time Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants with no Gino's burgers!
