Subject: What about the audience at dance-outs (who are often a lot closer to the dancers than an AD). Aren't they important as well?

In reply to: Let's remember they're costumes not garments 's message, "A costume has one and only one function. That's to catch the judges eye. Of course it's then up to the dancer to keep the judges eye. While good workmanship is desireable a good design with less than desireable workmanship is a superior costume." on Wednesday, March 21, 04:12:23am

Our school dresses include some textured embroidery which probably can't be seen all that well from a competition stage. But it looks great closer-up and audience member often want to come look at our dresses after a show. I would be embarrassed to wear a dress that only looked good from far away.

I guess that is a matter of preference, but in this case we are not talking about a custom dress where the OP has already paid. It is a USED dress. If she doesn't like it, then she shouldn't buy it. I really don't know why she even posted here.-Wednesday, March 21, 11:13:17am
