Subject: Ok, here goes. I'm having a terrible time with two things. First is my neckline. I've been sewing out my bodice, redigitizing my neckline separately, adding my bodice lining and then replace them in my hoop to sew out the neck. My neckline ends up binding the lining and embroidered fabric together. I'm still getting a flimsy unstable neckline and end up being stuck with it becasue I don't want to redo my entire bodice again. if anyone has any tips their willing to share, I'm all ears!

My second question will likely be answered in my first, but I'm having the same trouble when doing my small, hard shawls. No matter how much I line up my appliques I'm still getting sloppy trim around the whole piece. Any tips on either digitizing or placement greatly appreciated....

Well, after many solo dresses and some class dresses, I do the neckline satin stitch and shawl edge separate from main embroidery. [more inside - it's long :) ]SheilaSaturday, April 21, 10:23:28am

Do the edges by hand not machine using stabalizer (NT)xSaturday, April 21, 12:34:06pm

Thanks ladies, this helps a lot. I've just found when i have a more detailed neckline, say one with either scallops into the neck or darted down to a point, it just ends up looking sloppy when I free hand the edges and then the nice finished point or detailed design made by the machine embroidery is no longer looking lovely....I guess I've just got to keep my head down and keep on going..Thanks again ladies, your advice is very helpful ;-) (NT)at my wits end.Saturday, April 21, 07:40:32pm

I always do mine as part of the digitized design. Once the lining is attached and everything is trimmed, I put a piece of heavy (and I mean heavy) tearaway under the neckline before the embroidery starts. Works great with no stretching. (NT)AnnDSunday, April 22, 07:12:13pm
