This is my first time using this board so I'm not really sure what I'm doing. But I have some questions for fellow dressmakers!
What kind of embroidery machine do you have? What industrial embroidery machine would you recommend?

I have a brother that does a 4x4 and a bigger brother that does 6x10. They're both domestic sewing and embroidery machines. THe second is new as of December and I love it, but I can't help but think its just not meant to do hard core embroidery all day every day. Especially on sequins And a bigger hoop would certainly be nice...

I've heard of a machine that has a hoop as big as a door that you can fill with items to embroider, but that seems kind of excessive? Anyway, in terms of doing ID dresses what would you recommend that can at least do a bodice front in one pass and is the most bang for your buck?

thanks

also, if there's already a post for this I didn't see it, can someone please point me to it? thanks :)

I use a Toyota 9100 with the X-Panto hoop, The hoop has an area of 14.5 x 45" I use it everyday. I make and sell solo dresses along with team dresses. (NT)Works for me!Monday, April 23, 07:54:35pm

I use the Tajima Neo 2. Similar if not the same machine as the Toyota. Go to page 3 in the archives and scroll down till you see a post with Happy Voyager in the subject page. It was posted on November 29 at 4:43:30. Very helpful post about industrial machines and helped me purchase mine :o) (NT)..Tuesday, April 24, 08:30:22am

The big machines recommended above are great, but keep in mind the price & huge amount of space needed. They're also quite noisy! They can be wonderful if you make a lot of dresses, but if you only make a few per year you may also consider looking at semi-professional machines as they are smaller & quieter. worth it for just me?Jennifer BlackerbyTuesday, April 24, 11:52:05am

I have the Happy Voyager 12 needle. Its a great machine with even better customer service. The largest sewing field is 12.5" though so if I had to do it again I would have gotten the 15 needle. It has a larger sewing field (15" standard hoop) and can be used with a 15 X 45" frame like the X-Panto. (NT)BJ - a very happy HAPPY userWednesday, April 25, 08:18:55am

I have the SWF E-U1501. 20 needle, 18" X 21" sewing feild. Love it, 10 years old, not 1 problem. Free phone support for life. But thinking about retiring. (NT)DorothyThursday, April 26, 11:41:56pm
