Subject: I'm making way less now per hour than before because the dresses have so much more detail - embroidery, crystals, etc. With the style now being fully embroidered skirts, it is making it even harder, because I can't increase prices as much as the added time to make these skirts. When I started this the bodice backs were plain and there was only design at the sleeve cuff, and then there was plain skirts. It seems I become more skilled, do more work, but make less money. Where do we go from here?

Very hard.

I find embroiderred three panels take even longer! (NT)!Tuesday, November 25, 05:02:35pm

I'm so relieved that at least one other person is having the same experience. I've been here from the rise of Gavin (3 panels! silk, velvet and sequins!), and I swear the dresses get more complicated every year. If I actually charged appropriately my dresses would be $1800-2700, and that point dancers would just buy a Gavin. I literally cannot pay someone else to do what I do. And that doesn't really include the paperwork! (NT)Maybe bridal pays better?Tuesday, November 25, 07:07:04pm
