Subject: I had a singer machine and it crapped out on me within a year or two of off and on sewing. I ended up with an entry level Bernina and have had it for 10 years without any problems and am sewing constantly.

Go to a good sewing machine shop and buy a refurbished 1970s or 1980s Husqvarna, Singer or Pfaff. They are all metal (and heavy as heck), but being second-hand you can get it for the price of a cheap modern one. My SIL bought a refurbished 1975 Husqvarna (original price $600 in 1975) for $170 and it's perfect now. (NT)Best machine the shop ever soldWednesday, May 20, 09:00:56am
