A dancer and her mom have approached me about making a dress with a split color bodice with contrasting sleeves (one dark, one light) Do you think they are on the way out? I think that asymmetrical embroidery designs are definitely in. This is a big purchase for them, so I don't want them to end up with an outdated dress. Thanks for your opinions.

I have just made one. I think it all depends on the style of the dress. If it includes modern elements, eg shoulder designs, sequin fabric on bodice, very current style skirt, it can turn out great and look up-to-date. (NT)RThursday, January 19, 06:40:32am

I don't think the concern is that it be up-to-date now, but more that this look dated in only a year or so.mpThursday, January 19, 08:53:24am

Judging by Gavin's choice of promotional pictures I would lean towards reccomending an asymetrical bodice design with a solid base color., or solid bodice with matching contrasting sleeves (black bodice, green sleeves). Pretty sure sequins are coming back too. (NT)not excited about sequins!Thursday, January 19, 09:40:10am

Let me know when the confetti dot comes back! (NT)Yikes!Friday, January 20, 12:10:47am

Was at a feis at the weekend. There were plenty of asymmetric dresses diagonally across the bodice and newest ones had one half done in sequin. there were also some with the entire bodice done in sequin. (NT)RMonday, January 23, 08:51:57am
