| I charge the price of the crystals (same prices I sell them for at my feis booth) plus $20 per hour for labor. I can usually do 6 - 8 dozen crystals per hour. (NT) | Sonia | Saturday, February 11, 12:24:54pm |

| Me, too. Price of the stones, plus an hourly rate for applying them. That said, I enjoy stoning a dress so much that if it's part of a custom-made dress I include the labor in the dress and just charge extra for the cost of the stones themselves. | Dancer was quoted 50 pounds for 100 stones to be put on her Gavin.....no thanks, I'll do them myself. Agree with above! Blinging is the fun part!! When doing custom dresses I usually work the stones and cost into the dress price. Cost of stones plus $20/hour of stoning. I love doing it, but it does take time. - Just so you know: sometimes Gavin uses hot glue (not hot fix) to attach crystals. Swarovski specifically warns agains using hot glue due to potential damage to the crystal (NT) -- A lot of money to have the dress's appearance damaged, Wednesday, February 15, 05:00:30pm
- So? I imagine they've glued enough crystals to know what works, and I've seen them attaching large crystals to new dresses just before they are danced in at World Champion level, so I guess hot glue works (NT) -- !, Thursday, February 16, 03:11:30am
- So what? While the stones should stick for a while, after time they will discolor, the foil backing will degrade & the dress will look awful. Resale will be difficult, if not impossible and the buyer's investment wasted. Obviously- (NT) -- Any other questions? Really, this board is for DMs, not Mommys, Thursday, February 16, 09:26:28am
- Was that really nessicary? (NT) -- --, Thursday, February 16, 06:44:40pm
- Pretty typical of some of the responses on this board, sadly. Even large Swarovski stones only cost a few dollars, and are very easily replaced if really necessary, though personally I've never seen a Gavin with bad crystals, only dresses from SNDMs! Just another so-called dressmaker being scary and unhelpful to others. (NT) -- ., Friday, February 17, 12:29:22am
- I didn't write the comment, and it probably wasn't necessary, but the poster she was responding to was abrasive as well. It seems to me that Swarovski would know more about their product than Gavin, so if they specifically advise against hot glue, then I would say it probably isn't a good idea. Just because the great and powerful Gavin does it, does not make it right. (NT) -- He's a man, not a god., Friday, February 17, 08:00:17pm
