Subject: Does anyone else look at the big name dresses and wonder if they're using a hoop wider than 14"? I can tell some are pieced, but some don't appear to be...are they rehooping?

Me too. I have a large frame but still get puzzled when I see some full bodice designs on BN dresses. When I do a full bodice, sometimes I have to finish a satin stitch line to the edge but there's deinitely some out there much more detailed than just a simple finish to the edge. I try to avoid rehooping wherever possible, so I'm definitely not well versed in the "art" of rehooping, surely we'd all be aware if there was a bigger frame or maybe they're just really good at splitting designs :) (NT)good question, would love to know too!Sunday, September 28, 04:25:28pm

I often split the upper portion of the bodice/sleeves and the lower portion on teen dresses. It's a little tedious to line up, but styles at the moment seem to naturally split in those areas so it works out pretty well. I suspect hoop size is taken into account when the major dressmakers are designing. With as many dresses as they do, it's proably extra important for their production.
