I am attempting one of these skirts for one of my students. I figured out how to make the curly ruffle today (thank goodness for my rolled hem foot!) I want a really really curly skirt but don't know how to construct it. If you have made one or even want to guess, do you think the really tight curly ruffle skirts are on a circle skirt? stiff skirt? I would like it to move have have shape. Any thoughts you have are appreciated. Thanks.

- Sorry I'm no help yet as I will be working on this next week. Hope you figure it out. I did have a lady at my sewing shop say to make sure that the fabric should be on the diagonal. Good luck. (NT) -- Terri E CO, Wednesday, September 02, 09:44:32pm
- have you looked on the nat'ls, worlds and shamrock photo site for pics--I found a good one that shows a side view. (NT) -- bg, Thursday, September 03, 06:49:07am
- It's in the cutting of the fabric from my experience. Cut on the bias results in much more 'curl'. (NT) -- good luck!, Thursday, September 03, 08:22:04am
- Cut on the circle-bias lends to curl (NT) -- anon, Thursday, September 03, 05:02:21pm
- I think she knows how to do the ruffles...but needs to know what to attach them to... (NT) -- bg, Friday, September 04, 05:46:52am
- For the one I did, I sewed the layers of ruffle together (one on top of the other) then using my cording foot sewed dental floss to the edge and used this to gather the upper edge. The gathered edge I attached to the "top, outward facing" side of the underlining fabric. This seam was covered by the emb. gladiator pieces. Will try and find a pic. - We have a dress already wtih the ruffles. It's killing me - we've stuffed the ruffles with tissue paper, trying to avoid crushing them. Unfortunately, some are flattened. I've considered adding some kind of thin wire...but don't know how to start. (NT) -- yuch., Sunday, September 06, 06:45:25am
- do you think it is possible to get the same effect if you don't have an overlocker? (NT) -- t, Sunday, September 06, 01:18:57pm
