What, in your opionion is "the look" for head ware these days?

I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to make most of the options (cloth crown, tiara with backing--though I don't have a tiara right now -- might be able to find something locally, but the feis is this weekend--or those padded headband types), or something else?

If it matters, the dress is a "faux" 5 panel with flounce. Blue/Black/White. Neither my daughter or I are fond of the flower headbands, and I don't think that style would really match the dress so we want to do something other than that.

Suggestions? Thank for your experience!

An inexpensive & quick fix (in case you decide to go the more expensive/tiara route later); get a sateen covered headband from a discount drug or big box store, etc in one of your 3 colors. Criscross it with the satin ribbon that has nubs (name escapes me now) in the other 2 colors. Glue on some crystals if you have them (NT)elegant-then check out what's worn at the feisMonday, July 21, 10:28:20am

I usually make a tiara backer, and some kind of headband type piece. This gives her a choice, especially on the hot outdoor feis days if she wants to wear her hair up we have something ready and waiting. I try to make them while doing the dress because going back a few months later seems like a pain. (NT)hpyswrMonday, July 21, 01:31:54pm

AC Moore had nice satin ones for $1. DD noticed this weekend that....momTuesday, July 22, 05:22:26am

My dd doesn't like the way the covered headbands pinch her head so I made her a soft headband this way: Make a tube of fabric - either the base or the accent depending on which would look best with her wig color - taper the ends, stuff and decorate with ribbons and crystals. I made 1/4" long loops of 1/8" ribbon on the underside to stick large bobby pins thru to secure the headband. (NT)BJTuesday, July 22, 12:14:05pm

Fast fix--Joann fabric store, bridal section, get a pearl headband, crisscross blue and black ribbons over, glue rhinestones where ribbons cross, hair elastics around the ends so you can bobby pin through them to secure. 20 minutes work or less and cheap, still classy looking.
